Innovation is no longer the future, but it’s right at the edge of our fingertips, and Mindplus Education Sdn Bhd is very much aware of this fact. The company held the launching event of their app, Islamic Mind, on the 31st of July, 2017 at the Songket Ballroom, Rizqun Hotel. In attendance as the guest of honour was Yang Mulia Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin Bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman, Minister of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
With Mindplus Education’s vision to provide moderate and practical Islamic learning for the global Muslim market, and with their app, Islamic Mind, they aim to introduce Islamic education that’s approved and credible, as well as accessible and fun for Muslims around the world, for free, in line with their mission.
The application is geared towards educators, meaning parents and teachers, as well as children between the age of four to twelve years old. According to Pg Mohd. Khairi B Pg Hj Metussin, the CEO of Mindplus Education Sdn Bhd, this application was created in mind due to the rapid progress of technology, as well as the need to adapt to the new learning environment, especially for the younger generation. In his opening speech, he stressed that, “We need to make sure that what we teach our children is reliable and endorsed by a credible association, and with the effort of launching Islamic Mind, we believe that more solutions and innovations will come in terms of Islamic education, an industry that’s still largely untapped.”
The Minister of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin, also spoke of the necessity to use technology as a means of education, especially in light of how far it has come in recent times.
With the support of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, the first phase of Islamic Mind contains fifty animated Islamic topics along with visual learning tools and exercises that have been chosen, filtered and processed for approval by the Pusat Dakwah Islamiah, and is available on both Android and iOS platforms, in the local Brunei Malay language. It is Mindplus Education’s hope to include between one hundred to seven hundred topics as well as multiple languages in the next phases of the application.
