What gives the face its natural glow is Allah SWT’s grace. Inner-reality is purified, and that glow is simply a reflection of our deeds, our clean faith, intentions, thoughts and motives and everything we do to please Allah The Almighty. No amount of makeup can substitute it. Islam teaches us to appreciate beauty, what Allah has given us that He has created. Our beloved Prophet (SAW) said, “Allah is beautiful and loves beauty.” (Muslim)

To look beautiful is every woman’s dream. A lot of women go for treatments to pamper themselves, buy a complete cosmetic tool and even save up money to buy the latest clothes just to look and feel good. However, women can also look beautiful with prayer.

Our essential nature, or fitrah, inclines towards beauty. As Muslim women, we are not supposed to display our beauty to the public, but we are encouraged to beautify ourselves in private and for our husbands. Husbands, too, are encouraged to beautify themselves for their wives.

Islamic teachings are very concerned with hygiene. Hygiene and health are always interrelated, one simple example is the sunnah to clean our teeth with miswaka small stick which is rubbed on the teeth. A brush is formed when we chew on one end and separate the fibers, and the chemical properties of the wood are released. Maintaining our hygiene, we can improve our health tremendously, we can prevent ourselves from diseases and care for our body.

Another great tip is to wake up early in the morning. This is the time when the air is fresh and our body function works better in the morning. Let us all not be the kind who enjoy sleeping in until noon, especially during the holiday. This causes us to be lazy and the function of the body will follow. Wake up early, make prayer and perform your obligated prayers, and this can help improve our spiritual health as well.

Whoever wakes up in the morning with a healthy body and a healthy soul too, and his sustenance is guaranteed, then he is like a man who has the whole world. (HR At-Tirmidzi)

Here are some prayers that you can recite:

  1. Surah Waqi’ah

35. إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءً
36. فَجَعَلْنَٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا
37. عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا
38. لِّأَصْحَٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ

Translation: “Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a (new) creation and made them virgins, devoted (to their husbands) and of equal age, for the right companions of the right (who are). [56: 35-38}

This dua is read after the Fard prayer or after the dhikr if you want the aura of beauty like an angel. This prayer is also for you who always want to look younger.

2. Surah Yusuf

Translation: “(of these stories mention) When Yusuf said to his father, “O my father, indeed I have seen (in a dream) eleven stars and the sun and the moon, I saw them prostrating to me.” [12:4]

This dua is believed to have a karomah for a glowing face and a plea for the well-known facial light of Prophet Yusuf AS which can be infected with the person who recites this prayer.

3. Surah Taha

Translation: “Cast him into the chest and cast it into the river, and the river will throw it onto the bank; there will take him an enemy to Me and an enemy to him.’ And I bestowed upon you love from Me that you would be brought up under My eye.” [28:39]

This dua is a form of plea so that Allah SWT can safeguard our own behavior and also the goodness that exists within us including the beauty of His supervision.

4.  Surah At-Tahrim

 8. رَبَّنَآ أَتْمِمْ لَنَا نُورَنَا وَٱغْفِرْ لَنَآ ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Translation: “O our Lord! Perfect for us our light and forgive us, indeed You are All Powerful over all things.” [66:8]

This dua emits radiant aura of the face and is to be recited after the Fard prayer. It is very much encouraged to read after the Fajr (dawn) prayer. If Allah wills it, it will make the aura of self beauty more radiated, that you will be surrounded by light.

So enjoy beautifying yourself according to these duas, but you should always bear in mind that it is your inward beauty that should be glowing and not your appearance on the outside, which makes you most beloved to Allah SWT.
